Why is Florida so cold and snowy?

The technical answer is that a strong area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere has moved unusually far south across the southeastern U.S. This has pulled very cold arctic air that was in place over Canada and the midwest also unusually far southward into Florida as you are well aware.
