Mormons, how can you follow Christ if you don't believe in who God says HE is?

Mormons believe that Jesus is in fact Jehova, or the God of the Old Testament. They believe that he created the earth under the direction of his Father. They believe that there are in fact three separate beings God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. They believe that the three, though separate beings are in fact one in purpose.
