NFC "East" Why are the Dallas Cowboys part of that division if we're way over here in Texas?

they were in that divison when the league had 3 divisons per conference. So they left the cowboys in the east so all the south teams stayed close. when they moved it to each league having 4 divisions with 4 teams in each.
